India's most advanced and least developed states

This is a two-year-old news but still relevant for discussion.

The Raghuram Rajan panel report has made a case for ending the ‘special category’ criteria for providing additional assistance to poorer states, as it ranked Goa, Kerala and Tamilnadu as the most advanced state and Odisha, Bihar and MP the least developed.

This study was done based on a new methodology called MDI – Multi Dimensional Index score and the center will allocate funds based on the rankings.

Based on the MDI scores, the 10 least developed states are Odisha, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.

The seven most developed states are Goa, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Maharashtra, Uttrakhand and Haryana.

The finding is not very recent. For example, it has been there in medical textbooks for many years. I know from experience Polio eradication program would have been successful if the people of these states had cooperated. It is not only poor all the indexes are weak as well. These are the states that are blocking overall development and progress in India.

If you look at the developed states and why they are developed it is because of education and the enormous percentage of global citizens. The people of the underdeveloped states are primitive, and India must come up with a democratic system where only the competent must stand for elections, and these qualified individuals can change the world.
